Girl Hunter – Georgia Pellegrini for Kitchen Reader

One of the good things about, reading something selected by others is that you will end up hopefully, with something more than your usual repetoire. This was definitely the case with this month’s kitchen reader selection. I downloaded Girl hunter, this month’s reading selection for the kitchen reader with some mixed feelings. This book was Julie’s selection. I was not sure how I would handle a book that actually gets brave, bold and detailed about hunting.

The book is an interesting journey of a wall street banker turned chef, turned huntress. As you move into the book, I learn to truly make peace with the concept of hunting, since here the hunting is less for sport, but more for sustinence. The book has some great recipes, that also marry good cooking with the rustic sport of hunting, that brings the catch to a dimension beyond your traditional roast or smoke fare. I also enjoyed reading through the very natural descriptions of the surroundings as the book leads us to the woods and pristine beautiful natural surroundings that gently create the link between nature and the game.

An interesting and contemplative read.
